Five Little Monkeys
I collaborated with Five Little Monkeys, a local toy store, to develop a series of space-themed t-shirt designs. My process involved close consultation with the owner and store manager to thoroughly understand the brand's unique whimsical style and its beloved monkey mascot. I ensured visual consistency by referencing the mascot's color and texture style across each design element. The final t-shirt designs were produced as memorable gifts for the store's staff, which they could wear to represent the brand.
What I Learned: Through the reimagining of Five Little Monkey's original mascot, I gained valuable experience in strategic brand evolution. I successfully navigated the challenge of preserving established brand imagery—a vital factor for local business success—while updating the design to suit the project's theme. This process honed my ability to gauge the precise amount of change an original design can sustain while ensuring it remains instantly recognizable and resonant with the existing customer base.
With More Time and Resources: My next step would be to create space-themed signage and merchandise for the store. I am imagining a featured selection of astronaut toys alongside Five Little Monkeys outer space t-shirts, stickers, and posters. The display could have rotating monthly themes, driving community engagement and brand awareness.
